The rectangular tube transmits torque through geometric locking rather than friction or spline interference. When the inner tube is inserted into the outer sleeve, the flat walls of both profiles make contact across a broad surface area. Rotational force applied to one end is transferred to the other end without relative angular movement between inner and outer members. Simultaneous axial sliding is possible because the wall contact is linear and the nylon-coated bore maintains consistent clearance, allowing the shaft to extend and retract as the implement moves relative to the tractor during field operation.

📍 Material & Heat Treatment

Cold-drawn Q355B (equivalent to S355JR) low-alloy structural steel offers a yield strength of 355 MPa and tensile strength of 490–630 MPa before any surface treatment. After cold drawing, tubes are normalised at 880–920°C to relieve residual stress and improve dimensional stability under cyclic torsional loading. The outer surface is phosphated and then powder-coated. The inner bore of the outer tube receives a precision nylon liner applied by pressure insertion, giving a sliding surface hardness of approximately 95 Shore A while reducing the metallic contact noise common in bare steel telescopic joints.
